FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What will my first time in your gym be like?

Your first time in, we want you to feel comfortable. One of our experienced coaches will give you a tour of the facilities, walk through your goals, then you can get started on your trial class with our support.

Why is your gym more expensive than other gyms?

We know you have a lot of choices on where to work out. What’s best… A treadmill at home? The gym down the street that is £20/month? A box-fit membership? We encourage you to ask a different question. What are your goals? Personalised attention? Trained, professional coaches? Accountability? Working out with a group of like-minded people who cheer on your success? If the answer to any of the above is “yes”, then we’d encourage you to check us out.

What’s your drop-in policy?

We love nothing more than having visitors from other gyms come “throw down” with us!
If you are just passing through, we charge a drop in fee of just £25 per day.

It’d be great if you’d plan on arriving 20 minutes before a scheduled class time so we can provide you with a waiver to sign and introduce you to our gym. You can find our class schedule Here.

You may find that we do things a little differently to your gym back home. We hope that you enjoy the change in scenery, members, maybe even music. If anything makes you uncomfortable, however, please don’t hesitate to let us know.

How often do you recommend I come to the gym?

If you’re just starting up, we recommend coming a minimum of two days a week (of-course more is great). As you get more into your training, start using more of your time with us to reap the biggest benefits. The more you train with us, the more you get out of your membership!

What exactly is a Fitness Gym?

Our Fitness Gym tackles elements such as core conditioning, stamina, gymnastics, lifting and more. All our workouts are designed to improve overall flexibility, strength, speed, endurance, and agility.

The difficulty level of our daily workouts is designed to be increased or decreased, depending upon the individual. This makes them doable by anyone.

We provide coached group fitness classes and personal training for our members, as well as an open gym.

I’m not in very good shape… can I take part in Fitness Sessions?

The very first thing you will discover is that our Fitness Gym does not discriminate. Whether you are young at heart, or have just completed your 50th marathon, or are recovering from injury or wanting a healthier mind, whether walking the dog is the only exercise you’ve had in years, or you’re someone training for the CrossFit Games…We will help you achieve your fitness goals. Not ready to jump into class sessions? No problem, we will have you ready in no time with personal training.

One of the things that makes UMAA Training so unique is our community of people from literally every walk of life: stay-at-home parents, elite athletes, students, CEOs, members of the armed services, firefighters, you name it. Fitness bodies – our bodies – come in every imaginable size, shape and age; and yet, our workouts every day are designed for anyone to do them.

I heard that Fitness Gyms can use their own language, can you help me with the terms?

Can I do my own thing during class?

For any Experienced Member, New Member, Professional and Beginners, we have an Open Gym area where you can follow your own programming. We only ask that you follow our house rules.

I just relocated/looking for a new gym and I’d like to check you out prior to joining.

If you are an experienced CrossFitter, Weightlifter, Athlete etc, please contact us at info@umaatraining.co.uk. Let us know of your experience and we will get you sorted with an introduction to our gym.

Do I need to reserve a spot or contact anyone?

Please sign up for a free trial or drop in session to “Enroll”. You will fill out your account information, provide payment if applicable and sign the waiver. We do not turn anyone away. You can email info@umaatraining.co.uk or complete the “Contact Form” if you have any questions.
